A fire truck that was present at Ground Zero and aided in recovery efforts was brought to campus. Students were able to see this powerful piece of history up close and learn about the events of September 11, 2001, and the heroes who served our nation that day.
We are grateful for the chance to honor the memory of 9/11 and to help our students understand the importance of remembering this day in our nation’s history.

Other team members were recognized for going above and beyond. Mr. Gray has made sure that one of our students who had surgery over the summer was provided with a way to get back and forth with comfort. Mr. Dawson has been pivotal in greeting students and teaching them conflict resolution skills. A special shout out goes out to Mrs. Mixon. She actively participated in the PLCs, and she also displayed an act of kindness to one of her student's family.
School administrators want to thank the 4th grade team for building a positive culture in their grade level and school. Positive vibes and attitudes quickly become contagious!!!

Clemente “Cley” Espinoza, a 2014 Honor Graduate of Irwin County High School, has built a career defined by technical expertise, service, and leadership. After graduation, Cley attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), earning his associate degree before transferring to Georgia Southern University, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
While in college, Cley participated in a Co-Op program with PCC Airfoils in Douglas, GA. His hard work and performance led to a full-time offer upon graduation. In 2022, he relocated to Bainbridge, Georgia, where he joined Georgia Power as a Level II Distribution Engineer. In this role, Cley oversees territory stretching from the Flint River to the Alabama state line. He is responsible for designing, planning, and maintaining the electrical distribution system that delivers power to customers. His work has included contributions to major restoration efforts following Hurricane Idalia and Hurricane Helene.
Beyond his professional duties, Cley serves as the Bainbridge Chapter President of The Citizens of Georgia Power, the company’s employee volunteer program. Under his leadership, the chapter has served meals through the Salvation Army and launched an annual Easter Egg Hunt for local children.
Cley is married to Jaylin Brown Espinoza, and together they have two children—Everleigh (7) and Malachi (10 months). Known as a devoted husband and father, Cley strives to encourage everyone in his family to be their best.
When asked about influential figures from his time in Irwin County Schools, Cley named Dixie Gibbs and Becky Cook, praising their extraordinary teaching, ability to connect with students, and commitment to pushing them toward their highest potential.
We are proud to highlight Cley as our Alumni Spotlight this month!
