Irwin County High School Alumni Spotlight: Libby Hutchinson Yawn, Class of 1986
This month, we’re proud to shine the Alumni Spotlight on Libby Hutchinson Yawn, a 1986 graduate of Irwin County High School who continues to exemplify what it means to be a true Indian at heart.
Libby is widely known throughout our community as Irwin’s number one fan—always present, always cheering, and always supporting every student-athlete who steps onto a field, court, or mat. Her unwavering support goes far beyond the sidelines. As a dedicated school bus driver, Libby ensures our students travel safely and are cared for with genuine love and attention. She’s not just driving them to and from school or events—she’s forming meaningful bonds, providing encouragement, and looking after their every need.
Students know that if they don’t have anyone else in the stands, they have Ms. Libby. She holds each child accountable with care and respect, and her presence is a constant reminder that every student matters. Her support is not just felt—it’s known.
Outside of her commitment to Irwin County Schools, Libby enjoys a full and loving life with her husband of nearly 30 years, Gary Yawn. Together, they have three children—Adam, Daniel, and Diana—and four grandchildren who bring joy to their lives: Brayden, Addie, Bubba, and Genni.
Libby Hutchinson Yawn’s dedication, love for our students, and enduring school spirit make her a true example of what it means to be part of the Irwin County family. We are proud to honor her as our Alumni Spotlight!
