Students in the Shark Class participated in a variety of engaging activities during the week leading up to Thanksgiving break.
During Small Group Learning, students created plate collages showing the foods they would enjoy for Thanksgiving. They also practiced identifying shapes and letters.
During our social-emotional lessons, students learned what it means to be a “SuperFriend.” They were able to take turns wearing a superhero cape to show their accomplishment of being a superfriend.
During Center Time, a group of students chose to create treasure maps in the writing center. They later used their maps outdoors to search for “treasure,” demonstrating how they can apply classroom learning to real-world play. Students also spent time building structures, strengthening both creativity and problem-solving skills.
At the end of the week, students went on a field trip to the bowling alley, where they practiced gross motor skills and applied classroom lessons to a community setting.
Students also enjoyed a Thanksgiving snack together, sitting “family style” as they shared gratitude for their classmates. They ended the celebration with music and movement by dancing to Thanksgiving songs and pretending to be turkeys.
In Pre-K, we love creating opportunities for students to connect what they learn in the classroom to meaningful, real-world experiences.
