JROTC Drill Team Places at Meet

The Irwin County High School JROTC Drill Team earned a first place and two second place trophies at the Army JROTC Region Drill Meet at Taylor County High School on Saturday, 4 March 2017. The wins earn the team a spot to compete at the State Drill Meet on 18 March 2017 at Griffin County High School. Congratulations and Good luck at State!

Bands Earn Superior Rating

Congratulations are in order for the outstanding performance of the Irwin County Middle and High School concert bands in the Waycross District 8 Band Festival on March 1. Twenty-one bands from across the district were evaluated before a panel of judges for ratings of Superior (1), Excellent (11) or Good (111). The Irwin County band earned eleven superior ratings in all categories by all judges! A superior rating means "an outstanding performance, recognized among the very best at the Waycross Concert Band Festival."
Rebecca Paulk Named STAR Student

Congratulations to Rebecca Paulk, who was named ICHS' 2017 STAR student. Rebecca chose Mrs. Elizabeth Portier as her STAR teacher.
The STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program recognizes the highest achieving seniors in schools all over Georgia. Each STAR student chooses their STAR teacher to share in the recognition. As the Irwin County School System STAR student, Rebecca is now eligible to compete for region-wide honors.
Rebecca is the daughter of Tracy and Rhonda Paulk.
Tristan Billingsley Signs Letter of Intent

Congratulations to Tristan Billingsley, who signed his letter of intent to attend and play football at Middle Georgia College. Tristan is the son of Kerry and Cornelia Billingsley.
Spelling Bee Winners

Congratulations to Callie Lowery, System-Wide Spelling Bee Champion, and Nate Phillips, second-place winner. Callie, a student at Irwin County Middle School, will advance to the Region Spelling Bee. Nate is a student at Irwin County Elementary School.

The 1-877-SAY-STOP toll-free hotline was created by the Georgia Department of Education. Students can anonymously report anyone who has a weapon, has threatened to bring a weapon to school, or has violated any other school safety rules. The hotline hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. all calls will be forwarded to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Callers will not be asked to reveal their identities. Make the call; you can make a difference!
